Malawi Police in Kasungu district are keeping in custody a 47 year old man identified as Patrick Phiri for being found in possession of three bags of Indian Hemp weighing 50 kgs each.
The suspect hails from Sauya village in the area of Traditional Authority Nankumba in Mangochi district.
According to Kasungu Police public relations officer, Edna Mzingwitsa, the suspect was arrested on May 23, 2017 at Chisazima roadblock as he was traveling from Mzimba to Lilongwe.
“When they reached at Chisazima road block, Police searched the vehicle he was traveling in and fortunate enough they found three bags filled indian hemp”, said Edna.
She added, “the seized bags of Indian Hemp will be taken to Chitedze Research Station for analysis”.
The suspect will appear before court soon to answer the charge of Found in Possesion of Indian Hemp.
