Police in the Northern district of Malawi, Nkhata Bay, are looking for a man identified as Isaack Fulirwa for allegedly killing a 65 year old man Robertson Mkondowe.
According to Nkhata Bay Police Spokesman, Ignatius Esau, said after killing him, the dead body was thrown into lake Malawi to conceal the evidence.
“The gist of the matter is that the suspect Isaac Fulirwa has for some time been accusing the deceased of practicing withcraft and that he is responsible for the death of the suspect’s younger brother”, said Esau.
Mr Robertson Mkondowe met his fate on October 29, 2016 when he was on his way home.
“The suspect met the deceased on his way home from his daily endevours, he beat the deceased to death and later on dragged him into the lake where he pressed two big stones on him. His body was spotted by passers-by who saw it semi floating along the lake”, Esau told News Watch Reviews.
To make matters worse, the suspect also torched down two thatched houses belonging to the deceased.
The matter was reported to the Police who visited the scene of incident accompanied by medical personnel where it was established that death was due to severe loss of blood secondary to head injuries.
The suspect who is currently at large once arrested will answer the charge of murder which is contrary to section 209 of the penal code.
Both the deceased and the suspect 45, hails from Gankha village under Traditional Authority (TA) Khondowe in Nkhata Bay district.
