Football supporters around the globe will cast their eyes on their most celebrated super star, Christiano Ronaldo when Portugal take on Iceland in Euro 2016 campaign in France.
The Portuguese star, famously known as “CR7” is eager to help Portugal today to avoid slipping up against the so called minnows Iceland and reach the European Championship semifinals from group F.
In 2012, Portugal reached the semifinals but they were kicked out by the reigning champions, Spain on post match penalties.
The Portuguese will not take this game lightly because they have to negotiate their way past surprise package Iceland defence who surprisingly beat Netherland home and away during their Euro qualification matches.
Iceland with a population of about 330 000 people is making their debut at a major tournament and its the smallest country by population to ever feature at European championship.
The return from retirement of their 37 year old veteran striker, who played fro Barcelona and Chelsea, Eidur Gudjohnsen will add some flavour to the team which is considered as an underdog at the tournament.
This is the game which will bring bragging rights to the Icelandic team if they happen to surprise Portugal.
