On October 23, this year police in Mzuzu nabbed an ex convict for rustling four cattle belonging to Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mzuzu Police have confirmed to News Watch Reviews.
The Suspect identified as Mike Tchuwa, 29 hails from Eswazini village in the area of Traditional Authority Kampingo Sibande in Mzimba district
“The four stolen cattle were reported missing in the kraal for the office of Extension Planning Area (EPA) at Eswazini during the night of 21-22 October this year”, said Martin Bwanali Mzuzu Police Publist.
The matter was reported to police and investigations started which extended to butcheries in the city.
“A breakthrough was made at one butchery at Luwinga location where the owner tipped police about suspected man who was offering four cattle for sale. The seller was found, quizzed and led police officers to Thungwa forest where he kept the four cattle”, said Martin.
Recoveries were made and officials from Eswazini EPA identified the cattle as theirs.
Meanwhile, the suspect who has just been released from prison two weeks ago following completion of his jail term for robbery with violence will once again appear in court to answer a charge of theft of cattle contrary to section 281 of the Penal Code.
