A dead woman who was buried in 2015 caused commotion and drama in the village of Sandulizeni under Sub Traditional Authority Chaima in Kasungu when she returned back to life after more than one year spell in the grave.
People from all over the surrounding villages flocked to the village to see the woman who according to the relatives and other witnesses died in February, 2015.
“The woman is identified by the Police as Natchuma Banda, 39, died after she was struck by a mysterious lightening. Few days after she was buried, some relatives allege that they used to meet her but every time they tried to get hold of her, the woman could disappear like a wisp of smoke”, said Kasungu Police deputy spokesperson Harry Namwaza who spoke to News Watch Reviews.
He added, “it is until the 2nd of October, 2016 when the woman in question reached a certain person’s house in a nearby village where she requested for bathing water. After recognizing her, the person called the relatives who rushed to his house to see the shocking news. It is there where the relatives recognized and confirmed the identity of the woman. It is further alleged that, the relatives took the woman to the Witchdoctor who after giving her some traditional medicine assured the relatives that the alleged dead woman would be fine. Upon returning to the village, people from the surrounding villages flocked to the house where the woman was being kept like swam of bees in order to have a glimpse of the alleged dead woman”, concluded Namwaza.
News Watch Reviews understands that after realising that the situation was getting out of hand, the village chief called the Police who rushed to the scene to calm the situation.
Police took the alleged dead woman under the protest of her relatives to Kasungu District Hospital for medical examination and treatment if required any.
Meanwhile, the woman has been handed back into the hands of her relatives who now strongly believe the alleged death was an act of witchcraft.
Natchuma Banda hails from Sandulizeni village in the area of Sub Traditional Authority Chaima in Kasungu district.
