The President of the main opposition, Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Dr Lazarus Chakwera is worried with politics of regionalism and tribalism in Malawi.
Speaking in Ntcheu, he said this kind of politics will take this country nowhere because it brings divisions amongst Malwians.
“Let me point out that we all belong to mother Malawi regardless of where we are coming from or political parties affiliated to. If we continue with this kind of politics then we are dragging our country into the deepest pit where we will even fail to rescue it”, said Chakwera.
The MCP leader said if we want to build a better Malawi then all political leaders should stop this kind of politics which favours one tribe or region and leaves the other.
“No nation around the globe has ever developed with politics of regionalism and tribalism. It is high time that the citizenry benefits from all aspects of development hence making Malawi a better nation to all of us,” concluded Chakwera.
Chakwera told Malawians that its only the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in Malawi which promotes democracy and oneness amongst all tribes and regions in Malawi. He therefore urged Malawians to open their eyes and see what is happening in the country and MCP is ready to rescue the sinking ship.
