The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has imposed a hefty fine on Beforward Wanderers Football Club for displaying unsporting behaviors during the 2017 Airtel Top 8 second Semifinal match which involved Befoward Wanderers and Moyale Barracks on Saturday May 28, 2017 at the Bingu National Stadium.
According to a statement released by FAM general secretary, Alfred Gunda states that Befoward Wanderers Football Club failed to take precautionary measures to control their supporters who invadee the pitch during the said game.
Gunda also said that during the half time of the above stated match, two Beforward Wanderers Football Club supporters jumped from the stands into the pitch which is contrary to article 24.10 of the of the 2017 Airtel Top 8 Rules and Regulations and they have been sanctioned with a K500, 000.000 fine.
On another instance, Beforward Wanderers Football Club failed to take precautionary measures to control their supporters from tampering with goal posts at half time. FAM said the club’s three supporters touched and urinated against the Southern goal posts which is contrary to article 24.9 of the 2017 Airtel Top 8 and they were sanctioned
with a K300, 000.00 fine.
FAM once again fined Beforward Wanderers Football Club with K50 000 for failing to bring required equipment to the pre- match meeting which is contrary to article 24.5.
Alfred told the club that all the fines must be paid before Befoward Wanderers Football Club’s next fixture and informed them they are free to appeal to FAM’s Disciplinary committee within 48hours of receipt of notification.
