A 47 year old man who works as a clerk at Mchinji District Council is in police custody together with his son after he wilfully hired his child to write the current Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations on his behalf.
According to Mchinji police publist Kaitano Lubrino, said a MANEB official Mr. Charles Chiwaula who works as a Graphic Designer for the board told Mchinji Police Station that Andrew Mvula, 47, who hails from Traditional Authority Mkanda in Mchinji is among 345 students writing this year’s MSCE exams at Mchinji Cluster Centre where three secondary schools are writing the examinations.
“Both suspects were arrested on Monday July 3 after a 22 year old young man Andrew Mvula was spotted in the examination room writing Social and Development Studies Paper II with an ID card of his father”, said Kaitano.

Police investigations established that the father had connived and hired his son to write the paper on his behalf hence their arrest.
So far the police have charged the son for having access to examination material without authority contrary to Secttion 14, sub section 2A while his father will answer charges of hiring a person to write examination on his behalf contrary to section 29 sub section18 of MANEB Regulations Act.
Meanwhile the suspects will appear before court soon to answer charges when investigations are concluded.
