It was a joyfull day for one of the soccer players at Bawi when he was graced by the Malawi national team player Gabadinho Mhango who gave him his soccer boots after hearing his story about football.
Gabadinho surprised these players at Chingeni roadblock where there is a football ground and two teams were battling out in a tournament sponsored by a Member of Parliament in the area.
“Just few minutes watching the game, I didn’t intend to meet such a scene, I was caught an aware by one of the players whom I asked to meet and probably offer my gratitude. The thing is that when I saw this guy play for the few minutes, he reminded me of the days I started my soccer carreer”, said Gaba.
Gabadinho was on his way to Blantyre from Lilongwe and after seeing the player’s performance he waited until the game finished just to talk to him and wish him good luck.
Gaba told the young player, by the name Frank Ngaude to keep on fighting so that he should achieve his goals in his football career and get to greater heights.
According to Gabadinho, Frank Ngaude has since scored 25 goals from 12 games he has played in the tournament so far.
Some football fans have applauded Gaba’s actions of encouraging some young, talented soccer players in the country. Mhango is currently playing in the South African premier league known as ABSA with the current reigning champions Bidvests Wits football club.
