GREEN Youth Movement (GYM) Zambia Executive Director John Matambo says his youthful grouping is determined to create a clean and sustainable environment.
Mr. Matambo explained that as a voluntary non-profit-Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), priority is being placed on empowering youths with knowledge, skills, values, attitudes on environmental sustainability, protection, health, sanitation, climate change and governance.
Matambo says the community based initiative focuses its interventions and outreach activities on green ideology that results in improved human well-being ad social equity whilst reducing environmental risks with regard to educating the communities to be aware of the benefits of protecting and conserving the environment through youthful participation.
“We request for collaborative partnerships with media outlets and like-minded organizations to inculcate responsible and progressive ideal in youths on how each one of us, young and old play a role in global warming and climate change beyond Zambia,” advised Matambo.
Matambo implored citizens in Zambia to share the warnings and strategic measures meant to combat effects of climate change.
And Green Youth Movement (GYM) Zambia media and publicity coordinator, Ruth Tembo says there is need for young people to take center stage in creating sustainable development and know the importance of conserving the environment and make it a better place for the future generation.She added that soon the group will in back on a campaign to sensitize the community by tree planting just to alert them in acknowledging the importance of trees in the environment and how they help in the rain cycle.
