Efforts to save life of conjoined twins by surgeons led by Dr Carlos Valera at Kamuzu Central Hospital has ended on sad note, as the twins have breathed their last souls before the operation.
The twins were born at Nkhotakota District Hospital to 23 year old Asha Bashili and were transfered to KCH for examination and possible separation
According to Mable Chinkhata, the Public Relations officer for KCH said the twins died two hours before their set time of operation time.
The conjoined twins were set to be operated on Wednesday but due to scarcity of their blood type (O) which was meant for a backup during the operation, it was shifted to another day.
The operation was scheduled to take place on Thursday at 9am after securing the blood, but they died around seven in the morning due to heart failure.
Meanwhile funeral arragments are underway to transport the bodies back to Nkhotakota.
