A sombre mood engulfed Mizinga village under Traditional Authourity (T/A) Chowe in Mangochi district when the news broke out that a 47 year-old man identified as Mussa Chikuya has died in a road accident which occured on April 24, 2017 in Karonga district.
Confirming the development to News Watch Reviews, Karonga Police relations officer, Constable George Mulewa said that on the day of the incident five other passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Karonga district hospital.
“The accident occurred at a place known as Tenenthe area along Karonga-Chitipa, M26 road. The Interline Bus with registration number BP4459 which was driven by Mr Million was coming from Chitipa heading to Karonga boma” he said.
He aded, “upon arrival at the said place the driver failed to negotiate a left bend which resulted into a collision with a Toyota Hilux registration number MG 452 AE which was coming from the opposite direction driven by the deceased mentioned above and it belongs to ministry of Health in Lilongwe”, concluded Mulewa.
Meanwhile, Police in the district is urging all drivers to reduce speed in places which have sharp bends to avoid accidents of such nature.
