Malawian Man Arrested For Stealing Goods Worth MK1.4m From MacSteel Malawi LTD.

Police in Kasungu are keeping in custody Alick Maxwel Kasiya, 44 years for allegedly stealing goods valued at MK1.4 million from Macsteel Malawi Limited.

Speaking to this publication, Kasungu Police deputy spokesperson Harry Namwaza said the suspect was working as a Shop Supervisor at Macsteel Shop in Kasungu.

“Recently, there was an audit query against the suspect which revealed that some items were missing. After enquiries it was revealed that the suspect was responsible for the missing items which included Iron sheets, binding wires, galvanised wires, roll brick force, welding rods and wire nails”, said Namwaza.

The suspect has since been charged with Theft by Servant which is contrary to Section 286 of the Penal Code. He will appear before court soon when police enquiries are completed.

Alick Maxwell hails from Kasiya village in the area of Traditional Authority Nkhumba in Phalombe district.
