Jose Mourinho’s first match in charge at Old Trafford got off to a perfect start as his side opened their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 win over Wigan on Saturday.
This match will mark the start of a new era for Man United as Jose Mourinho takes charge of the Red Devils for the first time since he took over the reigns from the Dutchman, Louis Van Gaal.
This is part of the pre-season preparations for Manchester United who will be travelling to China later this month to face, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund before returning to Europe to take on Galatasaray in Turkey on July 30, 2016.
The Portuguese also introduced his new signings including Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan who made their first appearance for the Old Trafford team.
During the Saturday’s game, Manchester United took the lead through Will Keane who slotted home into an empty net after Juan Mata blocked a poor clearance from Wigan’s goalkeeper Jussi Jasskelainen. Few minutes later, Mourinho’s troops doubled the score through Andreas Pereira with a thunder bolt inside the box.
After the game, Jose Mourinho, famously known as “Special One” praised his team for a good display of football.
” “We tried in training some principles of our play and I could see them today being displayed by my team. I could see football the way I think”, he said.
Mourinho said he hopes that his team will maintain the same speed and good display of football to the next games.
