The 2017 Airtel Top 8 Knock-Out kicked off this afternoon with two quarterfinal first leg exciting fixtures involving Silver Strikers, Nyasa Big Bullets, Moyale Barracks and Mafco FC.
The Bankers, Silver were facing a tough encounter against the Mighty Nyasa Bullets at the Bingu National Stadium while Mafco FC hosted Moyale Barracks at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota.
In Nkhotakota at Chitowe stadium, Moyale Barracks have claimed a 2-0 win over Mafco FC in their quarterfinal first leg of the inaugural Airtel Top 8 Knock-Out Cup.
The Kaning’ina boys scored their first goal through Dan Katunga before Boyboy Chima hammered the second and last goal for the visitors. Moyale will host Mafco in the second leg which will be played at Mzuzu Stadium.
Another Airtel first leg quarter final game was played at Bingu National Stadium between Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets. The Bankers have once again outsmarted Bullets by beating them one nill. A lone goal through Victor Limbani was enough to give Silver an upper hand over their rivals.
Bullet’s season has started on a slow note as they have not won a game in their three games they have played so far.
Airtel quater final games continues on Sunday when Mighty Be Forward Wanderers will host Azam Tigers at Balaka Stadium with Kamuzu Barracks hosting Blue Eagles at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
The return matches will be played next weekend and the draw for the semifinals will be conducted immediately after the last second leg matches.
