As Part of the Malawi Republic Independence Celebrations which falls on July 6 every year, Malawi President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has Pardoned 243 prisoners.
These prisoners were pardoned on Thursday, July 21, 2016.
As indicated by an announcement from Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security released on Thursday, July 21, the prisoners who have been acquitted are the individuals who have served in any event half of their jail sentences, with great conduct and were not indicted serious offences.
“A few prisoners have been considered for exoneration in view of their restorative conditions. The Pardon of the 243 detainees is an image of absolution amid the current Year’s Republic Celebrations,” peruses part of the announcement.
This year, the Malawi President had coordinated that the 52nd Independence festivities be set apart by National Service of Worship as primary action.
TheMutharika led the worship occasion that occurred at Bingu International Conventional Center in the capital city of Malawi, Lilongwe.
