It was a battle between the two Galacticos teammates, Christiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale on Wednesday night at Euro 2016 first semifinal match.
The two superstars were representing their national teams, Portugal and Wales respectively to clinch the last spot in the finals.
Portugal, with their captain Christiano Ronaldo on the front line, demolished Wales to take all bragging rights on that day.
Ronaldo opened the scoring for his country in the 50th minute through a superb header inside the box before the most impressive player at the tournament, Nani scoring a second goal through a low shot to make it 2-0.
Ronaldo was the heart of the Portuguese team which extinguished Welsh hope.
Portugal will face either France or Germanyin the final which will take place on Sunday.
This is the second time Portugal have reached finals after a 2004 embarrassing loss to Greece.
After the game Ronaldo praised his teammates for fighting to the last minute.
“We deserved to win the game, we were on top of the game and we contained Wales”, said Ronaldo.
On the other side, Bale was disappointed with the loss.
“We were too close to the finals but we have slipped off. It wasn’t our day but we are proud that we have reached this far”, said Bale.
