A baptism ceremony ended in tragedy after six children aged between 12 months and 9 years died in Mashonaland East province, in Zimbabwe.
Confirming the incident, Zimbabwe police spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said that the deceased children consisted of two boys and four girls. One of the deceased children is a 12 months old baby.
It is alleged that the baptism ceremony was organised by a prophetess Maud Dzuke and her helper Jane Ruvinga. The two took the juveniles to the stream early in the morning at around 5am to do their ceremony.
After realising that some of the children have died, they ran away but they were later arrested by the police in connection with the deaths.
Reports from Zimbabwe further said the other two children are in a serious condition and they have been admitted at Sadza hospital for medical care.
Zimbabwe police have released the identities of the deceased children and they are; Patience Pfumidza (9), Emmanuel Dzukwe (7), Tinotenda Dzukwe (3), Shamiso Pfumidza (4), Blessed Muvadi (12 months) and Tafadzwa Dzukwe (5).
