Sphamandla Dlathu (7) from Durban, was last seen on Thursday 17 November playing with his friends just after school on their way back home. Later that night his parents reported him missing as he never arrived home.
It is alleged that a man, maybe in his late thirties was seen walking with Sphamadla the day he went missing, they got in a black BMW and that was the last time Sphamandla was seen alive.
“We were walking home, the three of us then this man approached us and said he would buy us stuff if we agree to go with him. He was so nice to us and even gave us R2O each. We were about to go with him when my older sister appeared and told us to go with her. My friend Sphamandla agreed to go with him and we saw them heading towards a car. That was the last time we saw him.” Said Katlego Molefe, a friend to the deceased.
After days of searching, the police received a call from a man who discovered a dead body at the dumping sight. The police immediately went to the scene and found a headless body of a child in a black plastic black. The deceased wore the very same clothes Sphamandla was last seen wearing and it was him.
The police are still searching for the person responsible for such a gruesome murder.
