Tanzanian truck drivers and eight trucks have been kidnapped in Namoyo, South Kivu, Congo DR, the Tanzanian government has reported.
The Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the ruffians are requesting a payment of $4,000 (more than 8m/ – ) per driver and installment ought to be settled in the following 24 hours.
The Ministry Spokesperson, Ms Mindi Kasiga, said the due date lapsed on 1600hrs on Thursday yet are working day and night to safeguard the drivers.
As indicated by the Daily News in Tanzania, it has reported that Mai rebel group are said to be involved and they have burnt four trucks all belonging to Simba Logistics owned by Azim Dewji. The reports further have it that two seized drivers escaped after being kidnapped.
Additionally, in the occurrence, all four Kenyan trucks were abducted to make an aggregate of 12 trucks.
The revolutionary group is requesting prompt repatriation of Tanzanian peacekeeping officers in DRC.
