The Malawi Police in Dowa over the weekend arrested three suspects in connection to murder and Robery chargies in the country.
Dowa Police publist, Richard Mwakayoka Kaponda identified the three suspescts from Lilongwe as; Jamu Sautso, 53, from Kampini village, Traditional Authourity Chitseko, Yotamu Mkandawire, 32, from Makanya village Traditional Authourity Kalumbu and Feston Banda, 32, from Masula village under Traditional Authourity Mazengela.
Speaking to News Watch Reviews, Richard Mwakayoka said during the night of 31 July and 01 Agust 2016, the trio murdered a 36-year old man Ganizani Salela of Malata village under Traditional Authority Mwanza in salima district.
“The Deceased was owning a shop at Njati trading centre and he was robbed off money amounting to 10 million malawi kwacha and a cellphone. The suspects broke the door of the house of deceased by using a big stone and demanded money while hacking the deceased by using a machete”, said Richard.
Mr Ganizani Salela died upon arrival at Makioni Health Centre in salima District.
Dowa Police managed to recover a man made riffle with two rounds of live ammunitions, a panga knife and a cellphone for the deceased.
Postmortem conducted at Dowa District Hospital by government medical doctors, showed that the Deceased died due to head injuries and loss of blood.
The three will appear in court soon after the completion of investigations, and they will answer two serious chargies ranging Robery contrary to section 301 sub section 2 of the pinal code and murder contrary to section 209 of the pinal. So far police is yet to recover the stolen money.
