Malawi Police in the northern region district, Nkhata Bay have sincerely commended members of the general public for their assistance in the arrest of the two suspects who chopped off body parts of a man in the district.
Nkhata Bay Police spokesperson Ignatius Esau told News Watch Reviews that the two men identified as John Kasambara, 36 and Osman Kayuni, 29 are in police custody on allegations that they brutally murdered a 47 year old man Osman Fumbo at Msakanene area in the district.
“On the night of 9-10 May 2017, they mercilessly killed Mr Osman Fumbo and later chopped off his head and genitals, but following a tip from well wishers, Police managed to arrest the two and also recovered the head which they had kept in the bush”, said Esau.
Esau further said that once investigations into the matter are over, the two will appear in court to answer a charge of murder which contravenes section 209 of the penal code.
Both suspects hails from Nthulinga village in the area of Traditional Authority ( TA ) Timbiri in Nkhata Bay district.
People in the district are living in fear because of the increase of such merciless activities taking place in their home land. This year two cases of such have been reported are all from the same Traditional Authority Timbiri. In a previous incident at Kahomwa area a man was killed and his private parts were mutilated.
