Police in Zambia have arrested two Nigerian nationals for attempting to dismount a gadget on an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at one of the banks at East park shopping mall in Lusaka, Zambia.
According to Police spokesperson in Lusaka, Rae Hamoonga said the two were arrested on Friday, August 19, 2016 at around 1500hrs after being found at an ATM for attempting to dismount a gadget on the machine they had mounted.
“We have indeed aprehended the two suspects and are identified as Hefeez Citileye and Chris Umeh, both aged 32 years and residents of Kaunda Square”, Rae told the Zambian media.
Reports in Zambia indicates that the police conducted a search at their residence where they recovered a laptop, various computer accessories and plain ATM cards.
The two suspects are currently detained in police custody awaiting trial.
Zambian Police has since warned foreign nationals visiting Zambia that this country is only a heaven of peace and not for committing crimes.
“As police, we shall swiftly arrest and prosecute persons coming in the country with intentions of committing crimes,” he warned.
He furthe said police have information indicating that one of the two suspects came in the country a few days ago under the pretex that he was coming to marry a Zambian woman.
