Two people identified as Cedreck McFerson 46 years of Manondo Estate in Namitete, Lilongwe and Lynne Clifford 48 years of Thuma Forest Reserve, Salima, have escaped a deadly crash after an aero plane they were flying in crushed in the Forest.
According to the Police report made available to News Watch Reviews by Salima Police publist Gift Chitowe states that the incident occured on September 30, 2016 at about 1000 hours.
“The two boarded a private Gyrocopter CU-RCD SUBARU 2.5 with Registration Number RAF 2000, Serial Number MZ 13-10-08 from Kamuzu International Airport to Thuma. Upon reaching Thuma Forest at 1000 hours one of the Aero Plain blades hit a tree that made the pilot to lose control and later crashed”, said Chitowe.
He added “the first victim sustained fractures on both ankles while the second victim sustained a fracture on her right arm and were both rushed to a Lilongwe Private Clinic”, concluded Chitowe.
Commenting on the incident, Thuma forest game scout Gofrey Umali said the small aircraft which crashed belongs to Lynne Crifford, a white lady residing close to the forest reserve.
