Malawi Police in Kasungu have arrested two traditional circumcision experts who recently circumcised a 13 year old boy identified as Julius Sainet who died barely 5 days after being circumcised at a local initiation ceremony which took place on 17 July, 2016.
According to the Police from the district, they demonstrated that the deceased with four other young siblings were taken for a coming of age cultural circumcision ceremony on July 17, 2016 and soon after being circumcised, the deceased was reportedly feeling cold.
“When his parents received this message, they sent extra beddings on Sunday July 24, 2016 but suddenly on 25 July 2016 Julius was reported dead”, said district’s spokesperson Inspector Edna Mzingwitsa.
News Watch Reviews understands that postmortem which was conducted at the Kasungu District Hospital revealed that death was due to severe loss of blood and septic wound.
After the incident, the two absconded and police launched a manhunt to track them down. The two suspects identified as Asiyeni Asauka, 69 years and Jeke Welemu, 85 years have been charged with Murder which is contrary to Section 209 of the Penal Code.
Asiyeni Asauka comes from Nyanda village while Jeke Welemu comes from Masaka village all under Traditional Authority Wimbe in Kasungu district.
