The US Second Lady, Dr Jill Biden on Wednesday promised her country’s continued support to Malawi towards the frail, food inconsistent communities and women empowerment.
Dr Biden, who was on three day visit to Malawi, made the remarks at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe when she had a gathering of individuals with Malawi’s First Lady, Dr Getrude Mutharika.
She said her primary reasons for visiting the country were to engage government and civil society partners on issues related to economic empowerment and education entryways for women and young women.
Dr Biden told reporters that her visit was similarly a way to survey the real means on how Malawi could enhance sustenance security among the common families.
“I went to Msamba Primary School in Zomba Tuesday and I was awed to see how children were performing. The school supporting project we are financing is yielding exceptional results,” she said.
Msamba is being aided by the US. Branch of Agriculture’s McGovern/Dole Food for Education program completed by the United Nations World Food Program (WFP).
