It was an embarrassing day for the Zambian senior national team who began its quest for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations which will be hosted in Cameroon with a loss to Mozambique 1-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The hero of the day who left Zambians wiping their tears and gave the Mambas their first ever win against Zambia was Stanley Ratifo who scored his 90th minute strike that took Mozambique to the top of Group K.
The Zambian tactician, Wedson Nyirenda started the game with the experienced forward Collins Mbesuma who failed to negotiate a way through the Mambas defence and he was subsituted at half time bringing in Dave Daka.
In another Group K qualifying matches, Guinea-Bissau beat Namibia by a single goal.
The Zambian senior national team has had a blunt striking force which has been drawing and losing since winning the Afcon in 2012. Supporters are calling fkr a change in the national by introducin new talents from the under 20 that has been performing superbly in their recent matches. They say its time for the Zambian Football Association to bring change in the national team by dropping the old aged players and bring young players who can bring back their glory days.
