THE LUSAKA Water and Sewerage Company says Zesco’s shutdown of power to a water treatment plant in Kafue will lead to water supply interruptions in most parts of Lusaka over the next four days.
According to a press statement, Zesco had issued a shutdown notice of Kafue town in order to facilitate works on the existing 88 kilovolts busbars from July 29 through to August 4.
“This means that Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company will consequently not be able to pump water from Kafue and transmit to Lusaka during this period as there will be no power at the water treatment plant. As a result of this, most parts of the city will experience water supply interruptions,” the statement by public relations officer Nshamba Muzungu read in part.
“We therefore, would like to take this opportunity to advise our customers to prepare for this by ensuring that they store enough water to see them through the stated period.”
Muzungu stated, however, that LWSC expected all the areas not on the Kafue main line to remain on normal supply.
