The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has disclosed that the updated Register of Voters has a total of 6, 698, 372 registered voters.
Three million,three hundred and seventy two thousand nine hundred and thirty five (3, 372, 935) are female voters, while three million, three hundred and twenty five ,four hundred and thirty seven are (3, 325, 437) male voters.
Lusaka province has the highest registered number of voters at 1, 119, 318 followed by Copperbelt which has 1, 034, 548 and Southern province is third with has 810, 077 registered voters.
QFM reports that ECZ Chairperson Justice Esau Chulu says the least number of registered voters was recorded in Muchinga province which has 349, 231, followed by North western province at 400, 575 and Western province 498, 915 registered voters.
Justice Chulu says the commission will avail the certified voters register to all the presidential candidates on Thursday next week.
He says the commission has done its part in preparing for the forthcoming general election and that the rest is up to political parties and their supporters.
Justice Chulu said this in Lusaka this morning during the last stakeholders meeting ahead of the elections which will be held in 12 days time.
Meanwhile the verification of ballot papers by stakeholders has started.
The exercise is being conducted at the Electoral Commission of Zambia warehouse in the Silverest area.
