The Electoral Commission of Zambia has put up some act on the politically instigated violence by suspending campaigns in Lusaka and Namwala districts.
On Friday a UPND cadre was killed in clashes between the opposition party supporters and the police.
The UPND defied a police order to hold their scheduled public rally in Chawama Constituency and marched from their secretariat through Church road to Cairo Road until they clashed with police.
In Namwala the political temperature has been charged leading to the Forum for Democracy and Development candidate being hospitalized after a reported attack from suspected UPND cadres.
The ECZ has for a long time threatened that it would suspend campaigns if the political violence continues.
According to the notice by the ECZ the campaigns will be off for 10 days with the move being up for review thereafter.
