A 27 year old Zimbabwean woman has been arrested in South Africa after being found in possession of tik (crystal methamphetamine) valued at more than R1.8 million.
South African authorities said that they found 8.1kgs of tik with an estimated street value of R1.8 million in the woman’s suitcase.
The Western Cape Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said they discovered the tik during a random search.
“After passengers had collected their luggages from the carousel, the border police members conducted random searches, thus when we came across that substance”, said Van Wyk.
According to the Police spokesman, Captain FC Van Wyk, said members of the border police based at Cape Town International Airport arrested the woman after she arrived on a flight from Johannesburg at about 10am on Saturday.
She is due to appear in the Bellville Magistrate Court on Monday on drug-related charges.
The woman is said to have been living in Hillbrow, Johannesburg.
